#STOPAAPIHATE

Here at WinC our heart felt sympathies go out to the families who lost loved ones or their loved ones were critically injured, by a white gunman in Atlanta this week. There were nine victims in total, one was critically injured and 8 were killed; with six of the eight being Asian Women. With racist rhetoric aimed at the Asian and Pacific Islander community during the Covid-19 Pandemic, incidents of racialized violence has risen 150% from 2019 to 2020 in the U.S., according to the non profit organization Stop AAPI Hate. In order to combat anti-Asian hate violence and racism, as a multiracial community we must work together to dismantle toxic whiteness and patriarchal structures. Those structures foster ignorance, misogyny, othering, colonization and terrorism. We have to lend our support in whatever way possible to our extended AAPI family; honoring their right to live in peace and liberation, honors those rights for us all - leading us to a more empowered and anti-racist world.
